june seventh, two thousand two.

i'm a lucky girl.

one of my very favorite bands was in town thursday.
i had an event at my church the same night that i had to be at, so i decided to skip it.
lucky for me, they came to the station instead.

may thirty-first, two thousand nine.

not a "full on" update -  something that NEEDED to be shared.

enjoy.
i know i will!

may twenty-fifth, two thousand nine.

a memorable memorial day.

i hope your day was a day to remember.
mine sure was.
i have a group.
a very laaaarge group.
we're all between the ages of twenty-one and thirty-ish.
we started as this huge bible study group.
the bible study part kinda faded, but we're all still super close.
some of us have gotten married, divorced, had kids, moved, come back, started careers, bought houses. one even actually went to jail. crazy huh?
well we have these random holiday traditions.
we do "friends thanksgiving," where we meet at one person's house the day after thanksgiving, bring leftovers from the day before and share all the food that's been brought.
this year will be the sixth year [in a row] we've done it.
we also go to opportunity village every year.
and every year, we spend memorial day together.
and this year was no exception.
people brought their kids.
people brought their friends.
it was amazing.
we're a crazy bunch.
and it's so awesome to think about where we all were a year ago.
even more awesome to think about where we all were six years ago when we all first started these traditions.
and these are traditions all of our kids will grow up being a part of.
it's way cool.

that's my sap for the night.

i'm gonna hit the sack, but i wanted to share this pretty cool video a friend posted on fb.

niiiiiight.

okie doke.
time to get packin' up.

may fourteenth, two thousand nine.

i've been obsessed with the twilight soundtrack lately.

it's so good.
it's a perfect mix of loud, bassy jams and quiet, peaceful tunes.
even if the movie / book wasn't your cup o' joe, the music is sooo good.
i'll even let you borrow it, if you wanna.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

i just found out fall out boy and blink 182 are going on tour this summer.
and that news makes me a happy freaking camper.
mark hoppus and pete wentz kept talking about it back and forth on twitter.
but nothing was for sure til they announced it today.
weezer is opening for them [tho don't really care too much for them].
i also heard a rumor the all american rejects were gonna be doing some surprise shows with them too.
no dates have been released yet, but it's gonna be a good summer.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

one concert i was really looking forward to was gonna be no doubt / paramore.
they're in town saturday for tiger jam. and oh man. i wanna go bad.
no doubt's... well no doubt.
and paramore's up there on my list of faves.
i'm gonna see of anyone wants to trade a ticket for my kidney or something.
i'll keep you posted if i get any takers.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

we have to do a staff photoshoot so we can have some updated pictures for our website.
normally, i'd be pretty stoked... and i still am.
it's gonna be awesome because i get to take group shots with mark and mercedes and jc.
i can't wait to see pictures of all of us as a little team.
the thing i'm kinda bummed about is this.
there are three colors they want us to keep from wearing : black-white-pink.
lucky me. those are the colors that the majority of my clothes happen to be.
what the dog, dude.
i have red, blue, and purple shirts, but mostly black and pink.
i'm gonna see who i can bribe to rock some black.
i'll letcha know how it goes.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

i'm starting to get guitar lessons this week.
i have a guitar. she's wonderful.
black, gibson acoustic with silver hardware.
and the best part : she rocks a black guitar strap with pink stars.
yes i know. i'm extremely hip. i can't help it.
so if this radio thing doesn't work out for me, i could be a rockstar.
ha. not likely. radio's my passion and i'm pretty much here to stay.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

okie doke. time to wrap this up... for the third time.
yeah, my lappy has a mind of it's own and shuts off when it wants.
piece of dump.
ha.

oh before i go, i'm leaving you with something to keep you busy.

i love black nail polish.

geez.
san gennaro was craz-ayyy.
women with their flipping boobs hangin out all over.
it was fun and stuff, but totally coulda done without the mammary show.

so we're playin' a crap-ton of new music and i thought i would give my seal of aprroval on some of the new stuff.

new stuff that is blair's iPod worthy :

carolina liar
- show me what i'm looking for.
daughtry - no surprise.
dave matthews band - funny the way it is.
katy perry - waking up in vegas.
mat kearney - closer to love.
miley cyrus - the climb.
rob thomas - her diamonds.
the fray - never say never.

i've been begging our peeps to play new f.o.b., but no luck.
so instead of playing it on air, i'll post a link to the wonderful, colorful video.

and i leave you with this:

lazy saturday.

not really up to too much today.
i haven't had a lazy day in a looooong time.
i've been cuddling with iTunes all day.
a friend of mine hooked me up with the live paramore - the final riot.
so i've been listening to that.
and this new amazing band called remedy drive.

they're both christian artists, but not those "in your face / jesus freak" bands.
check out remedy drive.
they're not too shabby.

goin' to the san gennaro feast tonight.
then some fro-yo from yogelsssss.
then i'm on air from nine til two.
you better be listening.

chow for now.
[yes. that's chow. not ciao.]

the hip, non-boring NEW bio.

ok. so originally, i had a bio here, but i went back to look it over and realized it was pretty boring. and if you read that and think, “man. this girl is boooring”, then that would be kinda bogus. so here’s the new and exciting revision!

what’s goin’ on?! mi llamo blair! i was born in the san francisco bay area in eighty-four and i’ve lived in vegas since ninety-three.

here’s my big radio story.

you know the early nineties tv show, northern exposure? a show about a group of people in a tiny town in alaska. my dad loved this show. so it was on a lot. there’s a character named chris stevens (played by john corbett) and he’s the radio dude in the town. his personality was quirky, he said what was on his mind, and people thought he was great. his character was just real. when he was on-air, he connected with the listeners. and the first time i watched that show, i knew i wanted to do the same.

there’s the inspiration. now for the follow-thru.

i
turned sixteen and sent in applications and resumes once a week for about three years. i knew this was what i wanted and i was gonna do whatever it took to get in. eventually, i landed a spot in our music research dep. and got my foot in the door. then, made my way over to MIX, made great friends with the afternoon jock, jason rooney, and got my very first chance to be on air as afternoon drive producer. now, three years later, i’m the assistant producer for M&M and i have my own thing going doing overnights.

looking back, i remember thinking it was taking forever to accomplish anything.

now? it just seems as though time flew by. how many people at my age can say they have a job they love no matter how many hours are spent doing it? not too many. and i love to learn. so anything anyone around here can teach me is welcomed with open arms! and i'm in a good place because everyone is willing teach me all i wanna know.

Randoms:

-i have five tattoos (and another in the works).
-i love to blog (
rndmdav.livejournal.com).
-my favorite pooches are jack russell terriers. i’d like one and she’d be named rigby or penny.

-my favorite band of all time? the beatles. hands down.

-first celeb crush? john lennon.

-i love non-profit organizations. faves :
to write love on her arms and invisible children.
-i’m really ocd when it comes to my windows in my car. random – yes.

-i love it when things are in alphabetical order.

-i’m heavily involved at my church and i love it.

-i buy books, but never read them.

-i wear a retainer every night – or supposed to.

-i share a room with my best friend.
-When i die, heaven will consist of smothered burritos (
z’tejas - look ‘em up), diet pepsi, fall out boy on my iPod, and my Grandfather. It’s gonna be awesome.
-i’m slightly consumed by facebook and twitter.
-i love taking pictures – whether it be of myself or of others.

-i believe you can have more than one best friend. I hold true to that statement with nine.

-i’m obsessed with spelling out numbers instead of writing the actual number. (i.e. 6 → six)
-i hate capitalizing anything. but i'm a total fan of proper grammer.

you should add me on facebook.
maybe you’ll get a video comment (new obsession).

thanks for listening!!
